SLiSH: Seven Lakes in Seven Hours

SLiSH: Seven Lakes in Seven Hours

Last year, four local “iron men” Kevin Bingham, Ed Perry, Todd Power and our own Kelly Schols began an effort to raise money in support of Skagit Valley Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Center Project and in loving memory of Heather Schols. Their fundraising efforts focused around successfully hiking to seven different lakes scattered across the Chuckanut Mountain area within seven hours. What was unique about this challenge was that they would be the only group to have connected all of these lakes into a single trek (it did require some trailblazing along the way).

The first event was a success and this year; they have opened up the opportunity to a broader audience allowing others to participate in the Seven Lakes in Seven Hours hike and fundraising event.

On Saturday, September 12th, 2015 the ”SLiSH Iron Men” will lead a group of hikers on a 20-mile trek to the seven lakes in the Chuckanut Mountain Range. They are anticipating about 30 to 40 intermediate to advanced hikers on the full loosely guided 21-mile hike. This is grassroots, adventure hiking; some of the hike is on logging roads and trails, but other sections have not had many visitors. They hope to have a 100 or more people joining the celebration at the final leg of the hike at Larrabee State Park where they will have beer from a local brewery and food during the celebration.
