Eleven Tips To Save Water & Money

undefined

Is your water bill getting more and more expensive? Did you know that some toilets use up to 5 gallons of water per flush?

If you have 4 people in your family that could easily add up to 80 gallons of water per day being used by just flushing the toilet!

Well, we have exactly eleven ideas that could save you a lot of money.

  1. Replace old toilets with high efficiency 1.6 GPF or less. This will make sure that you are not using too much water every time you flush.
  2. Change shower heads to efficient low flow heads (1.3-2.5 GPM). The ability to use less water and get the same clean result? What’s not to like?
  3. Don’t waste water waiting for it to get warm! Insulate your water pipes or install a recirculating system.
  4. Reduce shower time. A four-minute shower uses approximately 20 to 40 gallons of water.
  5. Do not use the toilet as an ashtray or waste basket. Remember, you could be using up to 5 gallons per flush!
  6. Turn the faucet off while you brush your teeth. All that water isn’t being used and it is just going to waste.
  7. Only use dishwasher/ washing machine for full loads. This will save you time, too. Just imagine having all of your dishes clean at the same time!
  8. Install low faucet aerators. These can reduce your consumption of water by up to 50%!
  9. Don't leave the water flowing through the hose when washing your vehicles. That water isn’t being used for anything so keep it off!
  10. Use a broom, not a hose, to clear off driveways or sidewalks. Cleaning dirt off of floors, sidewalks, and driveways is what brooms are made for after all. ;)
  11. One of the biggest water wasters is the invisible plumbing leaks. If your water bill is climbing and you haven’t changed your water use habits, you should schedule an inspection with CPI before this turns into a bigger more, costly problem!
